💨 What invisible force I felt:
As I was surrounded by funnel cakes, ice cream, and alcohol, I felt this invisible force. And even though I have mastered this force in my regular life, pulled out of my normal routine, I got to re-see what people experience when they are trying to make a diet change.
So I decided to open up a training in the "Success Blueprint" module of Meat Health Academy that talks about taking control of this force which, when you do, "pulls" you to success. When you take control of this force you no longer have to rely on "push" motivation (willpower), which ultimately results in failure.

📚 What I'm reading:
Over the last couple years I've started reading far more book summaries. I've found that many books have great ideas which can be summarized in a few paragraphs, but are expanded upon with antidotes to create a book that can be sold. While expanding on the main arguments with stories helps solidify understanding by providing various contexts, if it's not a new idea, I don't feel like I need the "fluff." However, through these synopses, I find new ideas that I want to dive deeper
into, and then I buy the book.
I've found book summaries to be a great way to reinforce ideas I'm familiar with while vetting books before committing. Here's a list of " books to read in 2021" none of which I'll likely read, but which I found the simple summaries to share some important ideas.

🎨 How to be a part time creator:
Last week I shared a framework I like to use called IKIGAI, a Japanese concept meaning "a reason for being."
It says you should find:
- What you LOVE
- What the world NEEDS
- What you can be PAID FOR
- What you are GOOD AT
And when you find this intersection, you can really start living on purpose and finding fulfillment.

🧪 What experiment is running the economy:
There was a famous experiment conducted in 1972 at Stanford called the Marshmallow Experiment. In the experiment they offered kids a marshmallow that they could eat right away, or if they waited 15 minutes in the room without eating the marshmallow they could have an extra one. In follow-up studies, researchers found that the kids who were able to delay gratification tended to have better life outcomes such as higher SAT scores and educational attainment and healthier BMIs as well as
other life measures.
Our economy is setup to incentivize eating the marshmallow right away as purchasing power shrinks over time (via inflation), fueling consumption over saving. This has significant implications.
To see how this can impact an economy let's take a hypothetical example of 2 fishermen, "Now" and "Later," who start catching fish with their bare hands.
"Now" spends 8 hours a day catching fish to fill his belly. "Later" spends 6 hours catching fish, and spends 2 hours each day building a fishing rod at the expense of suffering from a bit of hunger. The following week "Now" continues to catch the same number of fish in 8 hours, just enough to fill his belly, but "Later" catches an equivalent amount in just 4 hours with his new fishing rod. "Later" then uses his newly found 4 hours (and full belly) to build a boat, which then enables
him to go out to sea and catch even more fish, bigger fish, fish never seen before. He can provide for himself, his family, his community, and with the proceeds continue to innovate and improve the quality of life for everyone around him, while "Now" is stuck struggling day after day just able to catch enough fish to fill his own belly with little to no ability to support his community.
A "Fiat Standard" incentivizes "Now" behavior via a shrinking marshmallow. While a "Bitcoin Standard" incentivizes "Later" behavior via a marshmallow that expands over time.
