⚖ How much weight did you gain:
On average, American adults gain about 2lbs/year. The metabolic damage is gradual, almost imperceptible. It's like a frog boiling in water. Then "suddenly," 3 out of 4 of us are overweight or obese, insulin resistant, and catapulted into the high risk categories for nearly every chronic disease. But this past year was different. During a time when watching and improving health was of paramount importance, we put on weight at 15X the speed.
Of those [that gained weight], they gained an average of 29 pounds and 10% said they gained more than 50 pounds...Such changes come with significant health risks, including higher vulnerability to serious illness from the coronavirus.
Maybe a silver-lining that will come out of this is a deeper understanding just how important eating right is, how important it is to get up and move, get outside, and prioritize health. Or maybe that's wishful thinking :)

🎨 How to design your life:
When I was invited on the KetoConnect podcast a couple weeks ago, I assumed we were going to talk about meat, nutrition, diet, health, fitness, ect. And we did. But that was maybe 10% of the conversation. We spent most of the time discussing how to design your life. It was a fun convo as we disagreed on a number of things like talent (I think it's overrated, like a 10 second head start
during a marathon).

🏁 How to win the race:
If talent is overrated, if it is just a 10 second head start during a marathon, then how do you win the race? Well I think there are a few ingredients to winning the race, like loving to run! And if you love to "run" but aren't the fastest, you can speed up via deliberate practice.
That's the formula.
Passion + (Deliberate) Practice = Blue Ribbon

♥ How do you find the "love to run":
If the formula is Passion + Practice, how do you find that "love to run"? Sometimes it is found, sometimes it is inherent, but often it is created. And one way to create it is to avoid half-heartedness.
"If you tolerate too much half-heartedness, it's probably because you're half-hearted. As in: anxious and ambivalent, looking for reassurance. As in: bored, along for the ride, not really sure about your own feelings and opinions. As in: external locus of control vs internal locus of control. You probably don't have anything in your life that really tethers you to yourself - you don't
have conviction about what you love, so you're hoping that someone else will provide you love, so you're hoping that someone else will provide you that certainty. I think that people come alive when they're serous about what they love - when they choose to pay careful attention to what feeds and sustains them."
