Big news. I finished all the lectures/trainings for Meat Health Academy this week. The program is clocking in at about 17 hours (which took close to an entire year to create). And one of the lectures I recorded this week is called "
The Longevity Diet." It's one of my favorite talks in the program. And one of the things I discuss in
The Longevity Diet is a classic issue with nutrition "science" that is
beautifully demonstrated by
resveratrol. This is a plant defense molecule in the skin of grapes. It got popularized in mainstream media when a "promising" study was done in mice showing it might turn on genes called sirtuins involved in longevity. It led to the "drink red wine and live a long time" headlines. However, what tends to get left out of these headlines is that you'd need to drink over
8 barrels of red wine a day to get the 2 gram/day dose used in animal
studies. I know some people who would be willing to try though :) Turns out resveratrol has been a failure in human trials. But there is
one food which had an "unexpected" correlation with longevity...
