💪 What workout split I'm loving -
- A strategy I use to overcome workout plateaus and re-ignite muscle gains is to manipulate frequency vs volume. Recently my leg workouts started to stall, so I separated "leg day" into 2 different days. Now I'm doing hamstrings and calves on one day, and quads on another. With this new split the frequency in which I train these muscles decreased (once every 6 days), while the volume per workout increased. And after only 2 weeks, I can tell leg gains have come back to
life.
- Here's what the rest of my split looks like:
- Day 1: Shoulder / Chest (some triceps)
- Day 2: Back (some biceps)
- Day 3: Quads (and abs)
- Day 4: Biceps and Triceps
- Day 5: Hamstrings and calves
- Repeat
- As you can see, I mix and match this volume-frequency idea. For example, my arm training is much higher frequency, but lower volume per workout.
✏ What might make kids smarter -
- I've been talking about Aquaman, my water filter, a lot lately. People are surprised that a dentist would want to filter out fluoride. But if you don't eat sugar or many carbohydrates and have good oral hygiene, I think the risks of fluoride consumption outweighs any benefits. Here's a study I hadn't seen until "Crypto Diggy" shared it with me on twitter - fluoride consumption during pregnancy linked with children having lower IQs.

🤵 What it takes to change your life -
- Over the last decade I've exhausted the self-help / personal development aisle at the library. The question all these books attempt to answer is: How do you change your life? I summed up all I've learned in 3 tweets: it takes putting on a new suit.

🏆 What succeeded to fail -
- Peter normally forbids his lectures to be posted online. But he let this one slide. His message is profound: it's possible to succeed and yet fail. This was my favorite read of the week.

🔮 What the future holds -
- YC, the world's most successful startup incubator, had "Demo Day" this week, which gives us a peek at up-and-coming businesses / ideas that can shape our future. The big trend this year seems to be biotech. Companies are making
immunotherapies, cell transplants for chronic diseases, and telomere editing to reverse aging. Reading about these companies, I can't help but think none of them would exist if we focused on eating right, working out, sleeping
and getting some sunlight.

🎤 What I'm listening to / predicting -
- I stumbled upon Joe a few weeks ago on YouTube. He posted a cover of Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi. Rarely (to never) do I think a cover is as good as the original. Alas, Joe's rendition is phenomenal. He then uploaded a cover of Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, and now I'm sold, Joe's
going to be a superstar. Somehow he has under 10k subscribers, I don't think that's going to last long, and maybe we can help him out.
