The backstory is only 10+ years long. I'll abreviate it.
After graduating from dental school, I opened a practice exclusively dedicated to Dental Sleep Medicine. My office was a single room in a business park. With a single employee. Me.
I still laugh re-imagining the scene. Someone sees one of my blog posts, calls my cell, and schedules directly with me. I give them the address. They drive to a business park and see a telecommunications building. They obviously have the wrong address, right? But no. They walk into the building and a 26-year-old waves them into a small room. The kid proceeds to take their health history, do an exam, and lecture them on oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea.
And that's how it started. And how I discovered the limitations of oral appliances, and got the idea for SnoreBuds.
Fast-forward 10 years and SnoreBuds are now shipping!
Lesson
While there've been and continue to be many lessons, too many learned the hard way, one of the big ones is that resourcefulness is the antidote to a lack of resources. Do what you can, with what you got, from where you are.
