I had a revelation. Maybe it's obvious. But try this. Ask yourself,
"Am I successful?"
If you answered, "No," or any variant of "I'm not sure," then you're missing just one or two things.
And no, it's not money or a relationship.
If you answered, "Yes," without hesitation, then you almost certainly have both of these things.
The revelation I had is that success requires 2 things:
- Success requires that you Define it.
- Success requires that you Live
in congruence with it.
First, "success" can ONLY be defined by you.
Imagine working hard, accumulating accolades, wealth, status—having it all—but throughout you struggle and finally look around and realize that you're unfulfilled because you lived out your parents' or society's definition of "success" and not your own.
What looks like success is actually failure.
The only way to be successful is to take the personal responsibility to define what success means for you, and then have the courage to live in congruence with what you truly value.
