I run much of my life around Pareto's Principle, which describes how most results (80%) come from just a few things (20%). It's the science behind getting the most bang for your buck.
The power law takes this to the extreme.
A tiny fraction of causes produce the vast majority of results.
Think of the power law as
the 80/20 of the 80/20 of the 80/20 (0.2 * 0.2 * 0.2 = 0.008 = less than 1%).
The idea is to apply all pressure, with laser-like focus, to only the 1% most important things.
