🥩 What's a healthy diet:

Healthy Diet 101:

• Animal foods: the main focus—ruminants and animals eating their natural, species-appropriate diet
• Roots: peeled and cooked
• Fruits: local, seasonal, organic
• Dairy: raw, as tolerated
• Vegetables (stems, leaves, flowers): cooked, as tolerated
• Grains (and other seeds): limited, properly prepped (true sourdough, etc.)

🫢 What causes ADHD symptoms:

James Nestor, author of Breath, has a new book in the works and discussed it on a podcast with Tim Ferriss.

Two interesting takeaways:

1. Indoor CO2 buildup can be a big issue, especially in hotels. Crack a window.
2. Pediatric sleep disordered breathing (SDB) is an underlying cause of ADHD symptoms and hardly anyone is talking about it.

I talk about point #2 in this keynote. 

What Nestor didn't mention is that SDB in children is often a jaw development issue, which is diet related...

😴 What he didn't mention:

I listened to another excellent podcast on sleep with Dr. Michael Grandner. 

Too many takeaways to list, but two things stood out:

1. Worrying about bad sleep is often the cause of bad sleep. 
   • Have a routine, but stop trying so hard.
2. Sleep disordered breathing (SDB) is shockingly common. 
   • Know the signs, like gasping in your sleep and excessive daytime sleepiness. 

Regarding point #2 and treatments, he didn't even mention EPAP. 

It's my goal that no one discusses SDB without talking about EPAP and oral posture.

💡 How to get outsized results:

I run much of my life around Pareto's Principle, which describes how most results (80%) come from just a few things (20%). It's the science behind getting the most bang for your buck.

The power law takes this to the extreme. 

A tiny fraction of causes produce the vast majority of results.

Think of the power law as the 80/20 of the 80/20 of the 80/20 (0.2 * 0.2 * 0.2 = 0.008 = less than 1%).

The idea is to apply all pressure, with laser-like focus, to only the 1% most important things.

📊 How much is it:

The US spent roughly the same amount on debt interest payments as it did on defense in 2024. 

Understanding the debt dilemma is key to understanding "why bitcoin."

And while I believe bitcoin is the lifeboat, I implore you to be careful, and to be aware of pig butchering. 

Part of the bitcoin ethos is "don't trust, verify" — for a reason.
