Besides beef. Well, and...seed oils like soybean and sunflower oil, pesticides like glyphosate and atrazine, heavy metals like lead and arsenic, dyes like Red 40 and Blue 1, preservatives like BHA and VHA, mycotoxins like aflatoxins and
fumonisin, added sugars like HFCS, microplastics, PFAS, phthalates, bisphenols... So maybe not everything in moderation.
🍳 Why I haven't eaten eggs: I haven't eaten eggs this entire year. After my 2 year experiment of just beef, milk, and eggs, I wanted to cut out the milk. But because I got my milk and eggs from the same farm, when I stopped buying milk, I dropped the eggs too — too lazy to make a special trip just for eggs. And I don't buy eggs from the grocery store. This video with my farmer, Dave, explains why.
Eggs are still one of the best foods you can buy at the grocery store. I'm just extra-avoidant of high omega-6 foods, typified by seed oils, but also high in the fat of conventional pork and chicken, but not beef. I don't want you to fear eggs. If you don't have a farmer like Dave around, and
you want to eat eggs, just eat them in moderation. You can also save your $$$ by foregoing the marketing ploys and just picking up the cheapest ones.
✈️ How to eat in the air:
Two months ago, for my birthday, I was gifted bone broth protein. Of course, I researched it. It was high quality. And it was delicious. The exact day I finished it, I got an email from the company asking if they could send me some samples. I usually just delete these emails because I don't recommend many supplements, except in moderation or in special circumstances. But because of the serendipity and how happy I was with the product, I said sure. They sent me a big box of goodies.
I don't use olive oil, nor would I eat their superfood bars. But their bone broth protein is fantastic (and 15% off). Bone broth is a great source of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) which are good for your joints and skin. GAGs link to proteins and form the “ground substance” that gives cartilage its spring, synovial
fluid its viscosity, and skin its hydration and turgor. But GAGs can bind heavy metals too, so it's important to use grass-fed / pasture-raised bones, filtered water, and third-party-tested powders to avoid lead contamination. 💡 How to define work-life balance:
Work-life balance is about moderation. But the moderation that "works" for many people doesn't work for me. Instead of succumbing to definitions others create to tell you how they think you should live, I think it makes sense to define "work-life balance" for yourself. For example, if you're a man and want to have $1M and a six pack, you're going to have to a "work-life balance" that is different than 99% of other men... % of US men with a visible six-pack: ~2.5% % of US men who are millionaires: ~12% % of US men with both: <1%
