📉 How to shorten your life by 20 years:

After discussing how I gained and lost 30+ pounds of the last 2 years (eating the same 3 foods the whole time), I thought we'd discuss weight gain today.

Americans in the southeast are dying 20 years earlier than people in other parts of the country.  

This reduction in life expectancy is strongly correlated with obesity.

Obesity is strongly correlated with seed oils.

I don't think it's a stretch to say seed oils are stealing 20 years of life.

🌾 What about grains and sugar:

The biggest push back I get when I discuss seed oils is from those who believe the problem is carbohydrates, notably grains and sugars.

Since the rise of obesity in the mid 20th century, we are eating more additional calories from oils and fat than from any other source. But we are also eating more sugar and grains, as well as meat, and just more in general.

Is sugar and grains causing obesity too?

Sugar consumption is actually down over the last couple of decades, while obesity continues to rise.

Grains were a prominent part of the diet prior to the obesity epidemic.

While I believe grains and sugar contribute to the obesity problem, the amount of linoleic acid (an omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid prominent in seed oils) in the diet is the main driver of obesity, and likely the main driver of early mortality.

⚖️ Why are they so fattening:

Seed oils confuse people.

They don't cause your blood sugar or insulin to spike. 

In fact, they even cause blood sugar to drop.

Until they don't...

This is the most important graph that almost no one understands.

Seed oils are insulin sensitizing. They make it easier for your fat cells to pull sugar and fat out of the blood for storage. 

As your fat cells uptake too much energy and leave too little in the blood, you get hungry (which explains WHY we started eating more in general in the mid 20th century). 

A vicious cycle and rapid weight gain ensues.

After a period of rapid weight gain, you see fat accumulate more slowly as fat cells begin to resist more energy with obesity and diabetes setting in.

Yet, you hear:

“Saturated animal fats makes you fat." 

This is 90+ months on a high saturated animal fat diet. Though I recommend most people just start with a 90-day challenge :) 

💡How to make a change:

I find simple rules very powerful (I call these 4% rules in Meat Health Academy).

For example, over the last 2 years mine was: 

"Just eat beef, pastured eggs, and raw milk." 

Others I've heard:

• Don't eat anything from a factory
• No seed oils, grains, or sugar
• Beef and butter 

This can extend outside of diet too:

• Just 5 minutes of drawing a day
• Just 10 minutes of reading a day
• Just $20 put aside per day

🏦 What's the endgame:

Since adopting a bitcoin strategy, Microstrategy has outperformed every company.

Michael Saylor, the founder, recently discussed his vision of becoming the leading bitcoin bank.

This is the most valuable asset in the world. The ultimate goal is to be the leading bitcoin bank, or merchant bank, or you can call it a bitcoin financial company. (r)

Saylor envisions the company offering financial instruments backed by bitcoin. This announcement led to mixed reactions in the bitcoin community.

But those decrying Saylor's endgame don't realize that Hal Finney, the recipient of the 1st ever bitcoin transaction from Satoshi, foresaw this as the endgame for bitcoin more than a decade ago.

If you're in the know and semi-technical, I think self-custody is the way to go, but the future of intermediaries like ETFs and bitcoin banks is upon us.
