Good morning!

Here's your Saturday 7 roundup — What's Coming Edition!

🕒 When is it coming:

My 2-year experiment with 3 foods (beef, eggs, and milk) is over. Kind of.

After the 18-month bulk, I did the 6-month cut, and now I'm doing a "reverse diet" with interesting results...

I want to include some of the "reverse diet" results in the final video. So, give me a couple more weeks :)

Also, I just got my post-cut blood work back. Some of my predictions were exactly correct, others, not so much...

I'll be doing the write-up comparing the results to my predictions, and discuss what I'm changing based on the results. Stay tuned!

🥩 Where are we headed:

I've spent the last several weeks thinking about the forces of natural selection on the human diet throughout time.

How a change in climate forced early hominids to seek out more meat.
How the decimation of megafauna forced new subsistence strategies.
How agriculture has altered our genes.

I have a lot of writing coming on these topics to help elucidate:

What is an ancestral diet?

I think understanding the human ancestral diet is a "1st Principles" paradigm, and the key to navigating a healthy diet in the modern world.

Is this just natural selection at work again...

🤖 Is it here yet:

AI was all the hype last year and it hasn't stopped.

My 2024 Challenge is to explore and integrate AI into my life.

On a daily basis I am astounded by AI in one moment, and sorely disappointed the next. Like using a dial up modem in 1996 to connect to the internet just to be booted off shortly after.

For example, ChatGPT has replaced 50% of my Google searches. But it frequently generates wrong answers.

It can "read" the internet and distill answers, but it has trouble reading my notes and generating accurate responses.

It can "create" music and art, but it's odd, and I can only use it as inspiration for starting points.

But I don't think it will always be like this.

I think we're entering a quieter time. A time between the launch of ChatGPT and the fine tuning that is required for AI integration into our every day lives.

Schedule long meals with friends.

"Happiness" researchers agree on one thing:

The time spent eating with family and friends predicts well-being.

This week I had a recurring MeatUp with a couple friends from high school.

I think what's stops people from doing this is the time and work to prepare for dinners. But it doesn't have to be that way.

This is what our dinner entailed:

We enjoyed pounds of paddies over a couple hours of discussion.
