Researchers are aiming to regrow teeth through a new drug.
The drug blocks the USAG-1 protein, which enables bone morphogenic protein (BMP) to get to work regrowing teeth. (r)
Apparently, they've had successful trials in ferrets where a single administration was enough to re-grow a whole tooth (ferrets
are diphyodont animals with similar dental patterns to humans).
The drug is moving to human trials and could be ready by 2030.
