Good morning!
Here's your Saturday 7 roundup!
🥩 Did Ray Peat ever comment on this:
Ray Peat has a
devote following. They tend to be very vocal on Twitter.
I have not studied his work in detail but I am familiar with his general nutrition recommendations, some of which I agree with like his denouncement of seed oils (PUFAs) but some make me scratch my head like his advocacy for a lot of carbs, especially simple sugars.
What I want to know is did Ray Peat ever comment on evolutionary biology?
Unfortunately I can't ask Ray because he passed away in November 2022. So I asked Twitter, but I
didn't get any good answers.
For example, animals in their natural food environment rarely develop cavities or periodontal disease.
Based on the fossil record, the same was true of humans until the Agricultural Revolution. With the transition to high-carb, grain-based diets, our ancestors
suffered from a dramatic rise in oral disease.
Things only got worse during the Industrial Revolution with the refining of grains and the introduction of sugar.
