with diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancers, autoimmune, respiratory, and neurologic diseases.
We've known for over half a century that a "no-carbohydrate diet
prevents practically completely the initiation of periodontal lesions in the soft tissues" of mice. (Shaw and Griffiths, 1961)
Ok, but what about human trials?
The stringent restriction of carbohydrates—which animal models suggest is necessary to prevent periodontal disease—was reported to be “completely impractical.” (Gaengler et al., 1986)
Since we deemed a zero-carb diet impossible, we don't know to what extent the beneficial impact of a no-carbohydrate diet shown in animals can be extrapolated to humans.
I wonder what these trials would show...🤔
