“The low carbohydrate, high fat diet depressed caries activity to practically nill.”
In 1945 at the Vipeholm Institute in Sweden, 436 mentally handicapped people were given diets with varying amounts of carbohydrate.
During the 5-year study,
the researchers found that those eating the most carbs had the highest cavity rates.
This was a landmark study (with serious ethical considerations) in providing evidence for carbohydrates causing the most common disease in the world — cavities.
🤔 What's bad for teeth but good for health:
The US National Research
Council:
Cavities do not develop in the absence of carbohydrates.
Also the US National Research Council:
But increase carbohydrate consumption for overall health.
If a "healthy diet" causes teeth to rot and bone to erode, it's not a healthy diet.
🥩 What does meat have to do with teeth:
Tomorrow (Sunday), I'll be talking at the virtual Carnivore Summit.
No cost to attend. But if
you can't make it and/or you want to watch the recordings and get the notes, transcripts, audio, you can purchase an All-Access Pass.
💡Do they match:
Try this:
Write
down your top priorities
Look at your calendar
Do they match?
Seems obvious. But rarely in alignment.
🧠 What quote I've been thinking about:
Life expands in direct proportion to your willingness to assume risk.
