Good morning! Here's your Saturday 7 roundup! 🍴 What they never find together: The 1st cooking pots are dated to be about 10,000 years old, coinciding with the transition from hunter (-gatherer) to agriculturist.
There is a consistent archeological finding with pots... Archeologist never find edentulous — toothless — skeletons in civilizations without pottery.
What they do find, like
Dr. C. Loring Brace, a Harvard PhD Anthropologist, observed, - 1200 years ago, the Chinese started using chopsticks, coinciding with the development of overbites.
- 900 years later, the fork was invented in Europe, also coinciding with the development of overbites.
What (and how) we eat has a profound implication on the
structure and development of our jaws and teeth.
💓 What they found in the Netherlands: Last week I talked about how a vitamin K2 deficiency can impact our facial growth as evidenced in Binder's
Syndrome. Vitamin K2 helps direct calcium towards where we want it (bones and teeth) and away from where we don't (kidneys and arteries). The Rotterdam Study highlights just how important this vitamin is: Those in the highest third of vitamin K2 intake: - 52%⬇️calcification of the arteries
- 41% ⬇️heart disease
- 57% ⬇️ mortality from heart disease
Noteworthy: Intake of vitamin K1 had no effect. K2 is mostly from the animal foods and fat that supposedly lead to heart disease.
✍️ What I've been working on:
Clues to the ideal diet
hide right under our noses.
The mouth holds the keys to what we should and shouldn't eat. This makes sense. The mouth is where food enters. It’s the 1st part of the digestive tract. And
although we have a hard time keeping our teeth for 1 lifetime today, teeth preserve for millions of years in the fossil record, the only part of the digestive tract that does, which gives us many clues about what our ancestors ate and why they didn't get cavities, didn't have periodontal disease, didn't have malocclusion and requisite wisdom teeth extractions... What does our mouth say we should eat?
On April 22nd I'm giving a keynote presentation at KetoCon discussing the 3 clues to what our mouth says we should and shouldn't eat. Clues to the ideal human diet. I started putting the puzzle pieces of this talk together this week and I'm excited to present a completed puzzle in a few weeks!
If you're interested in attending, I'd love to see you there. It's a 3-day event with 70+ speakers, discussing Ancestral Diets, Regenerative Agriculture, and even the Carnivore Diet (I'll be on the Carnivore panel Sunday morning too). P.S. Use the discount code MEATHEALTH to save $50 on the 3 Day Full Conference pass (code expires April1st).
👀 What I've been watching:
I've been keeping a pulse
on the developments of OpenAI's ChatGPT. They just released GPT-4 and I've watched people use it to: - Create websites and businesses
- Summarize books, research, and videos
- Turn text into images and even music
People have been talking for decades about how AI will transform the world, but I think we are starting to actually get a
glimpse at what's coming. Exciting and scary at the same time.
I
created this picture of a primal man-robot in 2 minutes using AI.
🧠 What quote I've been thinking about:
One day we will vanish and our problems will vanish with us. Problems are a feature, not a bug. Problems are for the living, not for the dead. Problems are an excellent indicator that you are alive. The state of no problems, is the state of death. – On How Short Life Is
📈 Is it going to 1,000,000+:
While I don't think it'll
happen in 90 days, I wouldn't be shocked if it happened in 90 weeks.
▶️ What went to 1,000,000+:
