🥩 Why I'm "fasting" during a bulk:
I did a 3-Day Carnivore PSMF this week.
For 3 days all I ate was lean ground beef (about 5lbs total divided into 3 meals per day over the course of 3 days).
I'm incorporating these short PSMF into my 2-Year Carnivore Bulk to mitigate fat gain.
For example, if over the course of a month I gain 2lbs (1lb of muscle and 1lb of fat), at the start of the next month, a short PSMF can help burn off some of that newly acquired fat without losing any of the new muscle.
Well at least this is my theory / new strategy that I'm testing for the 1st time.
In addition to limiting fat gain, I'm also doing these PSMF once a month to provide some relief to digestion and the constant caloric surplus, and gain some of the traditional benefits of fasting like getting an uptick in autophagy, BAT activation, and even a bump in metabolic rate.
Wait. Fasting increases metabolic rate?!
Yes (well it can...), it's complicated, I'll expand on this if interested...
P.S.
While I had a minor increase in hunger during this 3-Day PSMF, my energy levels didn't drop.
Most people think if you eat less
than you normally do, your energy should drop. This is true for those who run on carb-based metabolisms, but if you are fat-adapted and/or metabolically flexible, you can tap your fat reserves and run with normal energy even when less energy is coming in.
