What's driving the
decline?
In 1984 researchers conducted a small, fascinating study. (r)
30 men, eating 40% of their calories from fat (mostly animal fat), were put on a lower fat diet (25%), replacing the animal fats with more polyunsaturated vegetable fats.
Basically, the diet we're told to eat today.
The switch from the higher fat diet (with higher saturated fat; P/S-ratio 0.15) to the lower fat diet (with P/S-ratio of 1.22) resulted in reduced serum concentrations of:
- Testosterone ⬇️
- Free testosterone ⬇️
- Androstenedione ⬇️
While the declining testosterone levels in men are multifactorial (i.e. impaired sleep, xenoestrogens in food/environment, inadequate sun exposure, etc.), I do think the quantity and the kinds of fat we are eating play a significant role in this decline in testosterone and overall health.
While toxic masculinity grabs headlines, toxic seed oils are stripping it way.
Perhaps that's part of the plan, but it has serious health ramifications.
