👀 What I binged on:
While working on "Fats" in the Macronutrient Series, I started re-reviewing the work of Petro Dobromylskyj at Hyperlipid. He is brilliant and he gets into the weeds. So I went back to review some biochemistry. That's when I stumbled upon Ninja Nerd which set off a metabolism binge watching spree.
I got my degree in chemistry where we studied biochem / metabolism in detail. A couple years later in dental school, we did this again. What's crazy is that Ninja Nerd is as good or better than university/graduate biochem. And he's free.
The intersection of chemistry, biology, and metabolism has always been one of my favorites. I easily get drawn and marvel at the body's elegant design, the checks and balances, and beautiful interplay between nutrients.
What continues to draw me in today is understanding how we break such a beautiful design with modern food. And how we can fix it.

🕹️ How to 10X productivity and fun:
Gaming is HUGE. About 70% of Americans, and nearly 3 billion people worldwide plug into video games. While I'm not a gamer, I have been studying them to understand why they are so successful, so engaging, so addicting. I've been doing this so I can reverse engineer these tactics to help others be successful and "addicted" to creating healthy behavior and habits.
I loved this video that encapsulates many of these ideas and how you can treat your life like a game to 10X results and fun.
My notes on applying gaming to life:
- Set a goal you want to achieve (clear actions ➡️ clear purpose)
- Set milestones on the path to the goal (rewards = dopamine)
- With each milestone "Level Up" (increase the difficulty)
- Have a visible progress bar (start ➡️ current status ➡️ goal)
- Incorporate competition and community to enhance results

↗️ What's rising:
Inflations number came in at 6.2% for October. The largest surge in 30 years. If you're like me, you're feeling it in the grocery bill with pretty much every major protein up:
- Beef 24%
- Pork 20%
- Chicken 10%
- Eggs 12%
- Fish 11%
Continued inflation at 6.2% would mean your savings in the bank would roughly be cut in half every 10 years (in terms of purchasing power).
It seems like the inflation goal posts keep moving. First it was “transitory,” then it was “supply chain” related, and now they admit it, but claim it can be reversed by spending more. 🤔
